Ben Schultz joins Anchorage firefighters raising money for the Salvation Army
ANCHORAGE (KTUU) – Anchorage Fire Department volunteers manned the Salvation Army’s iconic bells and red kettles on Saturday to raise money for holiday and year-round services. Ben Schultz, the Anchorage firefighter injured in a training accident in June, took his turn on the Skybridge over 5th Avenue.
“I personally took time to give back to the community because they have given so much to me with my previous injury,” said Schultz. “Time of the holidays, is a chance, an opportunity for us to be the most charitable to those in need”
Anchorage fire, police unveil jerseys for annual Guns N Hoses hockey game
It’s a hockey game for a cause. The yearly Guns N Hoses charity game is played between members of the Anchorage Police Department and Anchorage Fire Department.
Proceeds from event sponsors to go the Children’s Hospital at Providence. At the hospital Monday, police officers and firefighters unveiled the designs for their teams’ jerseys.
