OUR MISSION
The Anchorage Firefighters Charitable Foundation’s mission is to engage, support, and collaborate with the community to provide opportunities and achieve strength, resiliency, and well-being for all people.
Since 1957, the members of Anchorage Firefighters Local 1264 have proudly served our community – before, during, and after every emergency.
The Anchorage Firefighters Charitable Foundation is a 501(C)3 organization established in 2019, however; since 1957, the members of the Anchorage Firefighters IAFF Local 1264 have been selflessly serving the community before, during and after emergency incidents.
Our goal is to connect, engage, and impact the community of Anchorage by identifying needs of individuals and groups, supporting organizations and causes, and be a contributor with our partnerships and platform. Some of the services we provide include partnering in local charity events, fundraising to support local non-profits, sharing fire education and injury prevention to the public, assisting individuals, families, and groups in need, and providing capable and enthusiastic volunteers. Through our efforts, we continue a long tradition of achieving positive and lasting change in the lives of people in our community.
Why the Anchorage Firefighters Charitable Foundation?
Do you remember when you were a child and your parents told you, “If you are ever in trouble you can always trust a firefighter”?
When a member of the community is having their worst day, when the world is falling apart and there is crisis and chaos, when a person in need and they don’t know what to do, who do they turn to?
Your Anchorage Firefighters.
Our firefighters always stand ready to support the community in their darkest hour. As a government emergency response entity, our abilities and resources are sometimes limited to emergency mitigation. But through the Anchorage Firefighters Charitable Foundation, firefighters can reach beyond the emergency. Our ability to engage, contribute, and support are limitless.
Our Premier Events & Programs
The Anchorage Firefighters Charitable Foundation is proud to sponsor and host several unique marquee events.

The Bike Helmet Project
Through a working partnership with Safe Kids Alaska and the Anchorage Fire Department we have a stock of bicycle helmets that range from XS to XL at our fire stations intended for families who may not otherwise have access to a helmet. If you are in need of assistance acquiring a properly fitting bicycle helmet for your child, you can visit any station in the Anchorage Fire Department with your child to get a new helmet!

Fill the Boot
This event is supported by fire departments nationwide to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Awareness (MDA). Firefighters have raised over $700 million for MDA since 1954. In 2024 your Anchorage Firefighters were able to raise $92,381 and in 2023 we were able to raise $84,211. All of this would not be possible without the support of our Anchorage Community!

Operation Warm
Operation Warm provides new coats to the entire student body of a local Title I or low income school. Operation Warm is more than just coats. The coats not only provide warmth but provide self-esteem, a sense of pride and belonging, and hope for a brighter future to the children who receive them.

Santa Claus Express
Anchorage Firefighters outfit the IAFF Local 1264 fire engine with Santa and his sleigh and make rounds around the city spreading Christmas magic and joy.

Shop with a Firefighter
For over 20 years, your Anchorage Firefighters have provided Christmas to homeless children and children in transition in the Anchorage area. Children are transported first class to a local retailer where they are partnered with a firefighter and given money to shop for Christmas. Most of the children would not have a Christmas otherwise. Over the years, the program has grown from hosting just a dozen children to close to 100 children.

Guns & Hoses
Firefighters and police officers square off in an annual charity hockey game. All funds go to local non-profits. The primary recipient is the Providence Children’s Hospital. The event has provided thousands of dollars to the Children’s Hospital over the years-money that is critical for care and resources for some of our most vulnerable children.
How Donations & Contributions Make a Difference
The Anchorage Firefighters Charitable Foundation is supported primarily by member donation and augmented by other local donations and partnerships. Contributions and donations to the foundation strengthen our ability to do more meaningful work, reach a larger group of people, and affect real positive change.
